B.Tech Food Admission

B. Tech (Food) program accepts students that have passed either of these academic programs:

  1. Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL program by Tribhuvan University)

  2. Plus Two Science (HSEB program)

  3. Secondary School graduates in science (NEB program)

  4. Diploma in Food and Dairy Technology (CTEVT program)

  5. Other boards certified by Curriculum Development Center (CDC) as equivalent to (1), (2), (3) or (4) above.

The minimum academic merit needed to be eligible for application is as follows:

C+ in individual subjects


The application forms open as soon as the results of Science XII is out. Forms are available from the website of Institute of Science and Technology (IOST) or any other colleges/campuses where B. Tech (Food) program is offered.


For application, you will need to furnish following verified xerox copies of:

  • Transcript or marks sheet of SEE (or SLC), Secondary School (or Plus 2, or I. Sc., or Diploma in Food and Dairy Technology)

  • Passport size photos

  • Migration certificates

  • Citizenship (or equivalent certificate from your municipality ward)

  • Character certificates


    The entrance exam will be taken by the Dean's Office in different examination centers. The results are published generally within a week of the entrance exam.

    Successful candidates will have a tough time getting admission or choosing the right college. The total number of seats available is 288 but the number of successful applicants is usually more than 500! In that case, we advise you to consult senior students and food technologists. Please do not be duped by the attractive advertisements.

    The study cost in private colleges in Nepal can be anywhere between Rs 650,000 to 800,000 for full course (excluding living expenses). All the colleges (except Dharan Multiple Campus) charge extra for registration, examination forms, etc.
